It’s my first day off since I switched to night shift, well my first night I guess I should say. It is 1:11am and I am awake. To say I’d like to scream would be an understatement. This is probably the worst part of night shift, although that’s just what is frustrating me at the moment so that’s why it’s currently the worst. I tried to go to bed when my husband did, and according to my fitbit I did doze off for about an hour. But here I am in the living room watching old episodes of the Pioneer Woman and folding laundry.
Since this blog is new I’m sure most if not all of my readers are friends, who live within an hour of me. That means you all got to also enjoy the beautiful weather we had here today. I hate that I slept most of the day, not waking up until 3pm, but no way can I function without sleep. Fortunately though it was still nice outside so I got to enjoy my coffee out on my large porch, along with my sidekick Roscoe, and a great book.

I started the book last night and read all but about 15 pages, it was just that good. If you don’t know who Joey & Rory are then I encourage you to look them up on google or check out this link https://www.roryfeek.com. This morning I finished reading “Once Upon a Farm” and I loved it as much if not more than Rory’s first book. I adore Joey. I never knew her of course but thru Rory’s documentation of their life and his without her I feel like she was my neighbor. I can’t really put into words what she means to me and how much I long to know more about her. She was an absolute beautiful soul, a lover of God, a simple, country girl who loved her family. And I would love to be half the woman she was.
My hubby and I got to enjoy a nice date night out tonight. We had a gift card that was about to expire so it seemed like a good excuse to have steak! For you locals, next time you head to the Outback Steakhouse in Harrisonburg ask for Dominick. His service was exceptional tonight and made our dinner even more enjoyable. After dinner we did what we always do, we went to Walmart. I don’t know why or how, but we always seem to end up there. It worked out well for me though, I got two new additions to my kitchen from the Pioneer Woman collection!
Well the dryer has stopped again so it’s back to fold some more laundry. Hopefully sleep will come my way soon, tomorrow is another day off and the weather is supposed to be gorgeous so I don’t want to miss it by sleeping the day away.

Girl I can relate. No one understands that culture of the night shift unless you’ve done it.
