I don’t know about ya’ll but I am tired of rain!! Where I live it feels like it has rained non-stop for months. Now in reality that is not the case, though we have definitely had a lot of rain. We’ve had breaks in there with some sunshine and even warm temps, but we’ve had a lot of rain for a long time. Times like this, my mountain is not so beautiful. You know how when you drive through the mountains during the winter time you can look over and see ice on the rocks? Well that comes from the water running out of the side of the mountain, and guess what? I have that in my yard! Even after the rain finally stops, rain water runs out of the side of the mountain for several more days. As it does, it pools in my back yard and eventually starts making it’s way through my driveway and then down it. My backyard is a mud pit, seriously ya’ll, a true mud pit! And let’s not even discuss the fact that I have two dogs, who use the bathroom outside, ugh! Then there is the nice ditch that runs across my driveway now separating the main driveway from the side yard where my son and any guests park. Like it’s enough of a ditch that if you take the dog that direction in the yard he jumps over it, like seriously! Then there is the lovely long driveway down the mountain I have. Fortunately it is paved, with a gravel ditch on the side, a gravel ditch that is withering away with each new rain storm. I enjoy rain I really do, there is nothing like a quiet, rainy day curled up on the sofa with a good book or a good movie; it’s one of the best ways I can think of to relax. But I have had quite enough of it, especially since it seems it’s been raining since last spring! Hopefully spring will be coming soon to Virginia, but we will be done with the showers, and get just enjoy some sunshine! I’d like to start another little garden again this year, I still have a dream of getting some baby chicks, and goodness knows we’ve got plenty of yard and driveway work to get done. Bring on the sunshine!!
