Beep, beep!

I don’t understand what season I am in right now and the more I try to figure it out the more confused I get. Does that happen to you? God is not a God of confusion, I know that, so I know I need to keep listening, keep studying and keep digging to find the answers. What I do know is that I am in an important season for sure.

This summer when I finally dived back into bible study, I did it based on the topic I wanted help with, worry. The study ended up following the book of Joshua. In case you aren’t familiar this book follows Joshua who is the new leader of Israel tasked with leading Israel to conquer the Promised Land and there were quite a few references in the study back to the books of Exodus and Numbers.

When that study was over I decided my next topic would be contentment. This study mostly focuses on the book of Numbers. Let me just say I am struggling. It’s not one of my favorite books to read. So for about 8 weeks now I’ve read verse after verse about God bringing the people of Israel out of Egypt and leading them to The Promised Land. Over and over and over. Can you tell that I am over it?

Well on Monday mornings I typically listen to someone’s Sunday sermon during my drive to the office. Most weeks it is from Elevation and Pastor Steven Furtick and that’s where my phone led me this morning. I don’t read the title or anything I just push play. Well just guess what the sermon title is? Green Light at The Red Sea. Really y’all I cannot make this up!

It took me to about the 35 minute mark for all the puzzle pieces to fit together. I may be off on that mark, but for reference if you decide to listen, it is the part where Pastor Furtick is going “beep, beep”. Another notable statement was when he says “you’ve been looking at geography”. Wow sometimes God will just say okay let me point this out to you since you can’t seem to get it!

I’ve been searching for my next bible study, again by topic, and again looking for something on contentment since I’ve not resolved that in my heart yet. Well clearly I need to change my tactic. Because in this season, I am in the wilderness, and I’m stuck there until I figure out what God is telling me. So looks like I’ll be reading a lot more Exodus-Numbers which also means probably throwing Deuteronomy back in there and some more Joshua.

At least now I have a bit more of understanding of what I’m supposed to be doing while I am in the season. I still don’t know the purpose of it but I’m sure the more I study the more it will make sense and I will be thankful for it. Like I said I’ve known from the start this was an important season, that’s why it’s hard. So look out Old Testament I’m coming for ya!

I also work full time but due to the changes our country and world have been through I now work from home. I grew up in a small town in Virginia and now call another small town in Virginia home. I enjoy writing and thought it might be fun to share a little piece of my life with others.
