For the past two years I’ve posted each time I’ve been to my annual breast thermography. I usually get some questions about it and I love answering them and passing on the information that was passed to me. We only know what we know and unfortunately that’s a lot of the reason we’re such a sick society. Because doing all the things that are “normal” are damaging us more and more each day.
This year I decided to upgrade my scan to a half body scan. So this included my head, neck, chest and abdomen. It obviously covers a lot more of the body and therefore can provide a lot of great information. Just like with the breast thermography, it’s just ONE tool in the toolbox. Others are still needed. I already have my breast ultrasound scheduled for next month. I typically try to do it about a month out to ensure I have my thermography results in case I want them to focus on a specific area. Much like the thermography, I pay out of pocket for the ultrasound, and utilize a private company. It’s not nearly as expensive as you might think because they don’t have the red tape of dealing with insurance companies. Why don’t they? Well easy, because insurance companies won’t pay for it. Why not? Well that’s also easy, because these are technologies that don’t follow their ‘standard of care’ or provide them financial incentives.
I’ve honestly felt pretty rough lately so my results did not surprise me. The report indicated quite a bit of inflammation in various areas of my body along with lymphatic congestion and myofascial dysfunction. It was suggested that there could be issues such as the diagnoses you would recognize like Irritable Bowel Syndrome and Fibromyalgia; as well as diagnoses you may not recognize like Metabolic Syndrome and Insulin Resistance. Again none of this surprised nor scared me, and no I’m not running to a doctor asking to be tested for these things. Here’s why…a conventional doctor is going to run tests for sure but then possibly refer me to specialists and most certainly give me prescriptions for various things. You know what that will do? Hide my symptoms and create new ones. No thank you!
Instead what I will be doing is first off getting my butt in gear and changing the things I know I need to change like how I eat and how I move. I started the week with an 18 hour fast that I broke with an organic clean juice full of nutrients for immune health. Since then I’ve only had high protein, high healthy fat and solid fiber meals. I’ve also had no coffee instead having only herbal tea and filtered water with electrolytes added. I believe in the healing power of animal based nutrition, where you eat literally just what God gave you for nourishment. I also made sure to get my bare feet on the earth and my eyes on the sun, especially first thing in the morning. I’m back to my two walks each day on the treadmill along with a sauna session. Today I had that session outside soaking up some vitamin D!
Next up I’ll be getting lab work done. Not just the basic labs any old doctor would run but a huge panel of functional labs that will give me way more information. From there I will get a better picture of just what I need to focus on along with food and supplement recommendations specific to me. In six months I will get repeat labs and a repeat thermography and can check my progress. This gives me a great goal and I believe from all I’ve learned I can do this on my own. If things don’t seem to be going the way I want then I’ll find a functional practitioner to work with.
Let this be a reminder to you that there are lots of ways out there to check on your health and there are many paths to follow that may not be conventional. You won’t be told about them if you don’t ask, please ask, please think outside of the box and for yourself. Don’t continue to just be sick because the system says you are supposed to be. And if you have questions about thermography or anything else my inbox is always open!
