Say what..two days in a row?!

Okay ya’ll this is definitely a record right here, posts two days in a row. Don’t get used to it, I’m sure it will never happen again! But as I’ve pondered some of what was on my mind in yesterday’s post I thought a follow up might be good. So here it goes.

I downloaded the damn app! Facebook that is, to my phone. Notifications are OFF! Here is what I figured out. I dislike the book of face mostly because I don’t feel the desperate need to stay in touch with people who were in my life 5/10/15/20 years ago. I love my Instagram feed because I mostly follow those with interests like mine but that I’ve never met. Some have become friends, others are just people I enjoy watching do life. While there are certainly people from my past that I talk to, I don’t need to know every move of the person who was in my Algebra class in 9th grade if you know what I mean.

I do however want to stay connected to the people who are a part of my life NOW! In the last few years David and I have met some really great people and made some great friends…and a lot of them I’ve lost touch with because I deleted my fb. I’m missing out on the cuteness of my daughter’s baby bump. I’m missing out on seeing my best friend’s kids grow up. I’m missing out on fun events coming up that we might enjoy going to.

So I downloaded the app and will probably use it more but I set myself some rules.

First off, I will continue to keep it locked down. I don’t want random friend requests. And I won’t accept all that I get. It’s not personal. But you have to protect your peace. I might love you, but sometimes people need to be loved from a distance. I stand firm in my belief that just because you know someone doesn’t mean you are required to be their fb friend!

Second, the notification thing, off! I have most notifications on my phone off anyway so this one is a given. If you don’t, give it a try, you may be surprised how much less time you spend sucked into the apps if your phone doesn’t ding every single time something happens.

Third, I’m going to try to control the scroll. That is how I get sucked in, see stuff I don’t care about, and then hate FB more. I hardly ever scroll through IG so I am going to aim to treat FB the same way.

Fourth, no messenger. I believe that if we are truly connected and need to talk on a regular basis, then we know each others phone #’s. I hate only being able to message people through social media…so this time I’m not putting messenger on my phone. If I happen to be on my Mac and see a message great…otherwise, oh well!

So I don’t know, maybe for you FB is great and you don’t have any issues with it. Or maybe you do but feel so caught up in “everybody’s doing it” that you don’t know how to escape. Or maybe you spend way too much time on it and just don’t even realize it. Either way the whole point of this blog is to share life and maybe some inspiration. So here’s todays!

I'm just a simple girl, I'm a wife and momma first and foremost, and now a Nana which is my greatest job so far! I also work full time but due to the changes our country and world have been through I now work from home. I grew up in a small town in Virginia and now call another small town in Virginia home. I enjoy writing and thought it might be fun to share a little piece of my life with others.
